Syslog is a computer message logging standard that allows applications and devices to send event messages to a centralized log server. Syslog, records of system, security and application events, are used to collect, store, analyze and monitor.

Syslog services are provided through a server configured by a system administrator. Benefits include the ability for system administrators to monitor the status of their systems and devices, detect security incidents and track system performance.
